NEW THERAPIES, SUCH AS ENCOUNTER, GESTALT, AND SENSITIVITY TRAINING GROUPS ARE CRITICIZED AS BEING DEAD ENDS RATHER THAN DEVELOPMENTS IN PSYCHOLOGY.
Abstract
THESE PSYCHOTHERAPIES ARE DESCRIBED AS MORE SYMPTOM THAN CURE AND AS BEING CONSONANT WITH THE 'CURRENT HIPPIE ETHOS'. SINCE THESE THERAPIES ARE DESTRUCTIVE OF COMMON VALUES AND ETHICS, IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO INCLUDE THEM IN A MODEL OF THE ETHICAL CODE OF THE PSYCHOLOGICAL PROFESSION.
