This Federal grants manual contains information on 184 Federal programs offering assistance to State and local governments and nonprofit organizations of all types. The programs are categorized as community development, economic development, energy and energy impact, housing, jobs/personnel, transportation, environment, Native American programs, social services, services for the homeless, senior citizens, arts and cultural activities, disaster/fire/emergency, health, law enforcement and juvenile justice, and substance abuse.
Abstract
Each chapter in the guide is prefaced by an introduction and overview of the relevant programs as well as recent or pending legislative and regulatory activity. Each program description includes a "Quick Check" box, summarizing eligibility for the program, type of assistance, and requirements. Other significant factors are outlined: the program's Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance (CFDA) number, recent budget information, application deadlines, and the administering Federal agency. The program is described in greater depth, names and addresses of Federal and local contacts are provided, and the program's key elements are detailed. The Grant Update supplements include summaries of recent notices published in the Federal Register and Commerce Business Daily, as well as information on legislative and regulatory initiatives, budget developments, new programs, one-shot funding opportunities, and private sector initiatives.
