Checklists covering routine policing tasks (volume 3 of the Houston Police Department's Field Training Manual) are to be completed by probationary officers in the Field Training and Performance Evaluation Program, the final step before regular patrol assignment.
Abstract
An introduction describes four phases in the field training program and two phases for performance evaluation. Also covered are the daily training and evaluation reports, supervision, weekly training and evaluation conferences, and chain of command. Tasks listed in the checklists are routine jobs performed daily by police officers. Probationary officers must demonstrate proficiency in all tasks. When completed, the checklists are the attested record of satisfying this requirement. Instructions for completing the checklists and a student evaluation of the training.
