These seven articles and an accompanying editorial and book review present ways to improve police field training, discuss a training curriculum for field training officers, and describe two campus police training programs and the National Associaton of Field Training Officers.
Abstract
Individuals articles suggest ways to train police recruits when no calls for service are received, provide instructions on how to conduct field interviews with suspicious persons, and summarizes the content and timing of each component of a 40-hour curriculum for training field training officers. Other articles describe the field officer training programs at the University of Houston and Virginia Commonwealth University and review books on field training.
