This report describes the forensic laboratory services of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and notes that many of the laboratory operations, some of which have served for several decades, have been substantially changed.
          Abstract
Two laboratories were closed for financial reasons, and a proposal to charge user fees for some services was rejected as a result of the concerns of affected law enforcement personnel. Several types of laboratory services were transferred or merged as a result of technological advantages. Many laboratory personnel received training in DNA analysis. Additional activities included the inspection and disposal of hundreds of firearms surrendered to the police during an amnesty program and an international conference on currency counterfeiting.
