This guide provides a reference to government funding for Boys and Girls Clubs; it is the fourth edition of the guide.
Abstract
The guide was designed as an easy-to-use reference but is not a comprehensive guide of all grant programs available. It contains three main sections; the first section presents contact information for the Office of Government Relations. The second section provides information on the Office of Justice Programs (OJP) and how their grants may be used. The third section provides one-page summaries on the top federally funded grant programs for local Boys and Girls Clubs. A star rating system is employed and a list presents the grant programs reviewed in this guide by opportunity rating. During 2001, local Boys and Girls Clubs received over $238 million in government funding, up from $23.1 million in 1991. The Office of Justice Programs is a division of the United States Department of Justice; OJP has provided $407.2 million to local Boys and Girls Clubs since 1991. The grant programs reviewed in the third section are listed by the organization or department offering the grant. Section A reviews three Department of Justice grants; Section B presents two Department of Housing and Urban Development grants; Section C lists five grants offered by the Department of Health and Human Services; Section D reviews three grants available through the Corporation for National and Community Service; Section E presents one grant from the Department of Labor; Section F reviews two grants available through the Department of Education; Section G lists two Department of Agriculture grants; and Section H describes two grants from the Treasury Department. Each one page summary offers information about the objective of the grant, a program summary, how funds reach the Club, and how to access funds. Appendices present contact information for the agencies listed in the guide and a listing of useful Federal agency Web sites. Appendix
