EVALUATION OF THE RESULTS OF AN EXPERIMENT OF GROUP THERAPY ON EIGHT YOUNG OFFENDERS IN THE DETENTION CENTER IN GRANADA, SPAIN.
Abstract
GROUP MEMBERS WERE SELECTED ON THE BASIS OF AGE, IQ, INDIVIDUAL WILLINGNESS TO PARTICIPATE IN THE GROUP SESSIONS AND FAMILY SITUATION. THE THERAPEUTIC TEAM CONSISTED OF A GROUP THERAPIST AND ONE OBSERVER. THE METHODS EMPLOYED INCLUDED PROJECTIVE TESTS, SOCIOMETRIC TECHNIQUES, AND INDIVIDUAL INTERVIEWS. FROM AN ANALYSIS OF THE SIXTEEN SESSIONS DURING WHICH THE EXPERIMENT WAS CARRIED OUT IT IS POSSIBLE TO OBSERVE THE EVOLUTION OF THE GROUP ATTITUDES FROM AN INITIAL PHASE OF AGGRESSIVENESS TO A PHASE OF INTERNAL COHESION AND DYNAMISM. THE USE OF PSYCHODRAMAS SEEMS TO HAVE PROVED QUITE USEFUL IN THIS CONTEXT. IN GIVING AN OVERALL ASSESSMENT OF WORK OF THE GROUP, THE AUTHORS EXPRESS THE VIEW THAT THE SUCCESSFUL EMPLOYMENT OF PSYCHOTHERAPEUTIC TECHNIQUES FOR THE REHABILITATION OF OFFENDERS IS NECESSARILY LINKED TO CERTAIN REFORMS WITHIN THE PENAL INSTITUTIONS AIMED AT FACILITATING THE PROCESS OF REINTEGRATION INTO SOCIETY UPON RELEASE. --IN SPANISH
