PRINCIPLES AND TECHNIQUES DEVELOPED IN A SEARCH FOR SOME WAY TO LESSEN RELATIONSHIP PROBLEMS BETWEEN PROBATIONER AND PROBATION OFFICER WHICH PREVENT THERAPEUTIC CHANGE.
Abstract
THE IDEAS WERE TESTED AND DEVELOPED IN A JUVENILE PROBATION DEPARTMENT WITH THERAPY GROUPS FORMED FROM PROBATIONERS. THE PURPOSE OF THE GROUP WAS TO HELP MEMBERS EXPERIENCE A NEW WAY OF VIEWING THEIR LIVES THROUGH EACH OTHER. AN ASSORTMENT OF PERSONALITY TYPES, AGES, OFFENSES AND LIFE STYLES PROVIDES THE BEST SOURCE OF LIFE'S PROBLEMS TO THEM. THE BASIC PRINCIPLE OF THE THERAPEUTIC PROCESS IS THAT THE STAFF MEMBER OR LEADER MUST BE SCRUPULOUSLY HONEST WITH THE GROUP.
