Abstract
THE SUCCESS OF THE JUDGE IN APPLYING THE PRINCIPLES OF INDIVIDUALIZED JUSTICE, 'PARENS PATRIAE' AND THE CONSTRUCTIVE APPLICATION OF AUTHORITY WILL DETERMINE THE FUTURE OF THE JUVENILE COURT MOVEMENT AND THE EFFECTIVENESS OF THE JUVENILE JUSTICE SYSTEM. THIS BOOKLET DISCUSSES THE PHILOSOPHY AND THEORY OF THE JUVENILE COURT, THE ROLE OF THE JUVENILE COURT JUDGE, AND JUVENILE COURT ADMINISTRATION. SECTIONS DEAL WITH THE CONSTITUTION, DUE PROCESS, AND RULES OF PRACTICE AND PROCEDURE, INCLUDING THE ROLE OF THE ATTORNEY. ADDITIONAL ISSUES DEEMED NECESSARY FOR REVIEW BY JUVENILE JUDGES INCLUDE NEGLECT, DEPENDENCY, CHILD ABUSE, PROTECTIVE SERVICES, DETENTION, AND SHELTER USE AND PRACTICE.
