Abstract
Appendix A summarizes the National Manpower Survey (NMS) of the criminal justice system. The study focused on selected positions within law enforcement, the courts, and corrections. The appendix reviews the methodology used in NMS and presents the findings and recommendations relating to existing manpower needs and procedures for projecting future needs. Appendix B describes Project STAR (System Training Analysis of Requirements for Criminal Justice Participants), which was a study of criminal justice roles on a national basis. Appendix C presents findings from an interview study conducted with selected staff members of law enforcement units, correctional institutions, and the courts. The study supplemented the information available in Project STAR and NMS. Finally, Appendix D contains a listing of summaries of job analysis efforts which have been conducted in criminal justice organizations. Each section is individually referenced. Tables and footnotes are provided. For related volumes, see NJC 70801-03. (Author abstract modified)
