Abstract

This toolkit is intended for anti-trafficking service providers who have comprehensive training in client care. A self-directed model is provided to promote critical thinking when developing outreach campaigns across audience groups when expanding awareness for fundraising, client connection, and partner collaboration. The toolkit promotes a trauma-informed approach based on the principles of safety, trustworthiness, and empowerment. These are key considerations when creating outreach material that emphasizes physical, psychological, and emotional safety for both providers and survivors. The intent is to offer opportunities for survivors to rebuild a sense of control and autonomy while avoiding re-traumatization. The communication of this intent is important for interactions not only with human trafficking survivors, but also in contacts with the community supporter, the partner representative, and the donor. The toolkit discusses outreach presentations and interactions tailored for each of these outreach targets. A REACH Model was designed for this toolkit to help providers create compelling and appropriate outreach, training, and materials to best REACH the target audience. The toolkit also has sections that discuss reliable resources and statistics; recommended resources and references are listed.
