Abstract
WRITTEN STATEMENTS WERE SUBMITTED IN RESPONSE TO THE CRIME ON PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION VEHICLES SUBCOMMITTEE (HOUSE RESOLUTION 1020) BY THE REGIONAL TRANSPORTATION AUTHORITY IN CHICAGO, THE CHICAGO TRANSIT AUTHORITY, AND THE JOLIET MASS TRANSIT DISTRICT. WRITTEN TESTIMONY WAS PRESENTED BY GOVERNMENT AND LABOR UNION REPRESENTATIVES. SUPPLEMENTARY DOCUMENTS WERE ALSO SUBMITTED THAT CONCERNED PLAINCLOTHES POLICE DECOYS, BULLETPROOF SAFETY GLASS TO PROTECT AGAINST TRAIN VANDALS, AND STATE LAWS ON PUBLIC TRANSIT. SPECIAL OCCURRENCE REPORTS ON PUBLIC TRANSIT CRIME AND PERSONAL SAFETY ARE INCLUDED. ANSWERS ARE PROVIDED TO QUESTIONS ABOUT THE PERCENTAGE OF CRIME COMMITTED DURING EVENING HOURS, SECURITY DEPARTMENT OPERATION, INSTALLATION OF EMERGENCY TELEPHONE AND TELEVISION SURVEILLANCE, TWO-WAY RADIO/TELEPHONE CAPABILITIES, AND SECURITY DEVICES.
