IDENTIFIES SIGNIFICANT FACTORS RELATIVE TO PAROLE SUCCESS OR FAILURE OF A GROUP OF MALE JUVENILES COMMITTED TO INSTITUTIONS DURING 1967.

THE DATA COLLECTED PERTAINED PRIMARILY TO THE BOYS' SOCIO-ECONOMIC STATUS BEFORE COMMITMENT. PAROLE SUCCESS WAS RELATED TO OFFENSE, FACILITY THE BOY WAS ASSIGNED TO, AGE AT COMMITMENT, BIRTHPLACE, AND MOTHER'S CRIMINAL HISTORY. AGE AT COMMITMENT, FACILITY THE BOY WAS ASSIGNED TO, AND PREVIOUS CRIMINAL HISTORY WERE SHOWN TO BE SIGNIFICANT FACTORS IN PAROLE SUCCESS OR FAILURE (SEE NCJ-12787 AND 12788 FOR REPORTS TWO AND THREE RESPECTIVELY).
