The book's six chapters discuss the adult learner (key principles, domains of adult learning and a four-step instructional process) and program analysis, design, development, implementation and evaluation. Each chapter is outlined with a goal and objective followed by text with review questions. The chapters explain, among other things: needs assessment, job task analysis, evaluation standards, methods of instruction, lesson plan development, risk assessment, managing the classroom, evaluating training, remedial training, training program management and revision, training program cost analysis and legal aspects of training. The book also contains a chapter learning practicum, related training forms and resources of information.
