This instructor's manual is designed to enhance problemsolving and as a teaching aid for a text on police human relations.
Abstract
The manual covers seven major areas of police human relations concern. These include police community relations, family and crisis intervention, police interactions with the emotionally disturbed, police-juvenile relations, occupational stress, police ethics and corruption, and issues in administration and supervision. The manual is organized by sections, each consisting of seven cases for role play and problemsolving. A description of the case, critical issues to be considered, commentary, and possible solutions are provided for each case. The possible solutions should not be viewed as the only solutions, but are provided to allow the instructor an opportunity to promote discussion of possible alternatives and to provide realistic answers to the critical human relations issues raised in each case. See NCJ-108464 for the textbook.
