This volume presents the national reports from 20 countries in transition that participated in the International Crime Victim Survey (ICVS) in 1996-97.
Abstract
The book contains background information on the cities where the survey was conducted, the countries and their criminal justice systems, survey organization, sampling, data collection and a brief descriptive analysis of the ICVS results, including tables on frequencies, victim profiles and risk analysis. It also includes suggestions and comments on possible policy use of the survey data/outcome, and recommendations on further research. The reports were prepared by researchers from different backgrounds, including: lawyers, sociologists, criminologists, researchers from public opinion survey companies, and police officers. The book includes reports on Albania, Belarus, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Georgia, Hungary, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Macedonia, Mongolia, Poland, Romania, Russia, Slovak Republic, Slovenia, Ukraine, and Yugoslavia.
