Consumption of alcoholic beverages, even in amounts below the legal limit is a major contributor to motor vehicle crashes.
          Abstract
As the concentration of alcohol in the blood increases so does the risk of involvement in car crashes. The relationships among the amount of alcohol consumed, blood alcohol concentration, performance decrement, and the risk of a car crash are complex. The exact effects of alcohol consumption in any given case are influenced by many factors. A multidisciplinary approach that includes public health considerations is necessary for driving while intoxicated prevention efforts. 26 references.
