Abstract
THE USE OF PRERECORDED VIDEOTAPE TRIAL PRESENTATION (PRVTT) WAS EXAMINED IN CIVIL CASES IN CALIFORNIA AND OHIO. JUROR RESPONSE WAS DETERMINED THROUGH THE USE OF QUESTIONNAIRES AND INTERVIEWS. THE EFFECTS OF SUCH FACTORS AS CAMERA TECHNIQUE, SETTING, AND IMPERSONALITY OF TONE WERE CONSIDERED. JUROR RESPONSE WAS FAVORABLE, OVERALL, BUT MANY EXPRESSED DOUBTS ABOUT THE USE OF PRVTT IN CRIMINAL CASES. WHERE THE DEFENDANT'S FREEDOM MAY BE AT STAKE. JURORS GENERALLY AGREED THAT FIRST-HAND OBSERVATION OF THE DEFENDANT'S REACTIONS AND DEMEANOR.
