The American Bar Association sponsored a Just Solutions Conference and several other meetings to discuss various practical solutions to the justice system problems present in the U.S. today.
Abstract
Just Solution conferees agreed that, if the ABA initiative for reform were to succeed, it must actively promote two principles. The first is that, in seeking reform, lawyers must develop new partnerships with the public. The second principle is that, to integrate justice reform with social change, lawyers and other justice professionals must be ready to reach outside their ranks to join other public groups in the search for answers to broader issues. This booklet presents proposals to ensure better access to justice; success of a new service paradigm in the justice professions; equal justice; reengineered processes in family and juvenile justice, criminal justice, and civil justice; and the rethinking of key roles in terms of the bench, the legal profession, and the jury. 2 appendixes
