This collection of 172 polygraph cases is designed as a reference work for those who need illustrations for a book, speech, or article.
Abstract
Cases were selected from Government and American Polygraph Association publications. A brief note on the source is included with each citation. Cases are grouped by their use with innocent persons (eyewitnesses, the falsely accused, victims) and guilty persons (to obtain confessions, lead to evidence, or expose false testimony), as well as in applications to employment screening, parole and probation supervision, and espionage investigations. In addition, articles are included on such specific topics as polygraph employment screening, handling shoplifting, Federal statistics, and surveys of attitudes toward the use of the polygraph. An extensive index cites cases by offense committed, geographical location, name of examiner, agency involved, author, and other topics. (Author abstract modifed)
