Abstract
The first section addresses utilitarian and deontological approaches to criminal justice ethics and includes a case study on peacemaking, justice, and ethics. The second section covers ethical issues in policing, with emphasis on police ethics, police lies and perjury, the ethics of deceptive interrogation, and ethical dilemmas in police work. The third section considers ethical issues related to courts, legal advocates and moral agents, prosecutor misbehavior, and criminal sentencing. The final sections examine ethical issues in corrections and in crime control policy and research and discuss the future of criminal justice ethics. The textbook includes case studies, exercises, and discussion questions related to ethical dilemmas characteristic of the criminal justice field to aid students in understanding and assessing ethical dilemmas.
