Abstract
A SAMPLE OF 693 THIRTEEN YEAR OLD BLACK BOYS WAS SELECTED, AND AS OF JULY 1971, 535 BOYS AND THEIR MOTHERS WERE INTERVIEWED. IN ADDITION, COURT RECORDS WERE CHECKED FOR ALL THE BOYS AND THEIR SIBLINGS. IN SAMPLES OF SELECTED AREAS OF INTEREST, 400 OF THE BOYS HAD AT LEAST ONE ARREST. THERE WERE 14 ADDITIONAL YOUTHS WHO RESIDED IN HOUSEHOLDS WHERE AT LEAST ONE OTHER YOUTH HAD A COURT RECORD. THE TWO GROUPS WERE COMBINED TO FORM A SAMPLE OF BOYS WHO RESIDED IN DELINQUENCY HOUSEHOLDS.
