Abstract
THE REPORT INCLUDES INFORMATION ON THE COMMITTEE'S PROGRESS TOWARD FORMULATION OF A COMPREHENSIVE STATE PLAN FOR LAW ENFORCEMENT. DEVELOPMENT OF THAT PLAN TOOK ON A CRIME SPECIFIC PERSPECTIVE IN 1972, EMPHASIZING A PROBLEM-ORIENTED APPROACH IN PLANNING FOR THREE MAJOR AREAS - LAW ENFORCEMENT, COURTS AND CORRECTIONS. OTHER PLANNING IMPROVEMENTS IN 1972 WERE GREATER PARTICIPATION BY THE REGIONAL PLANNING AGENCIES AND AN INCREASED EMPHASIS ON QUANTIFYING INDIVIDUAL PROGRAM GOALS AND THEREBY AIDING EVALUATION OF PROGRAM EFFECTIVENESS.
