This report summarizes the development of the shorter and longer term outcomes and potential measures for the KidsVoice multidisciplinary team approach.
Abstract
In 2001, KidsVoice (KV) requested the Planning and Evaluation Project (PEP) of the Office of Child Development at the University of Pittsburgh for assistance in evaluating their multidisciplinary team approach to advocacy. Together, KV and PEP designed an evaluation addressing three areas: process, shorter term outcomes, and longer term outcomes. The development of the shorter and longer term outcomes and potential measures for the KV multidisciplinary team evaluation took place from the fall of 2003 to the summer of 2004. The shorter and longer term outcomes and potential measures were developed in three phases. In Phase 1, the PEP conducted a series of focus groups with members of fully staffed teams. In Phase 2, an Outcomes Working Group was formed to further develop and refine the shorter and longer term outcomes developed via the focus groups. In Phase 3, the KV team supervisors and members of KV management developed the shorter and longer term outcomes for the team model and the potential internal data collection and evaluation tools. This report provides a comprehensive overview of each of the three phases. In addition, PEP’s recommendations for shorter and longer term outcomes for the team model and corresponding data collection methods are outlined, as well as future steps that KV must undertake for the evaluation of the shorter and longer term outcomes and development of the data collection system.
