Abstract
The book is divided into 20 steps that include the following topics: attitude, dreams and goals, commitment to master fears, hiring requirements, study time, test taking techniques, police procedure, data recall, visual detection and observation, legal terms, math skills, reading comprehension, report writing, map questions and resumes, oral boards, role playing, and Federal law enforcement positions. Each topic includes the objective of the section, purpose, time required to complete assignments, and things to do. For example, the section on attitude, Step 1, contains the following information: the objective to eliminate all negativity; the purpose--to keep a positive attitude in any circumstance; the time required for the exercise--3 hours; assignments--list the 10 most valuable things in one’s life, explain why a positive attitude is crucial to attaining a successful career in law enforcement, and have friends write letters of recommendation. Step 2, Dreams, Skills and Achievements, includes the following assignments: write a dream list, list professional and personal goals, and detail skills and achievements. The topics in the subsequent chapters are organized in a similar fashion. Hard work is required to prepare adequately for career employment testing in law enforcement, but it is possible to work very hard without becoming ready. This 20-step plan can make all the difference between success and failure. By using the materials in the workbook, the user will achieve significant results. The book and the plan that it provides have been carefully developed and presented in an order that ensures that the user’s skills will complement each other. Appendix, index
