This edition of Law and Order Magazine has eight primary articles on police vehicles, police vehicle accessories, and police planning capabilities.
Abstract
The first article, 2012 Police Vehicle Design Contest Winners, presents the Grand Prize and First Place winners in the 2012 International Police Vehicle Design Contest. The second article, The Latest in Police Mobility Vehicles, presents information on the newest types of electric mobility vehicles used by police departments. The third article, Havis ChargeGuard and IdleRight2 Solutions, discusses two solutions for preserving the life of vehicle batteries. The fourth article, Rugged & Semi-Rugged Laptops & Notebooks, presents information on the newest laptops/notebooks for use in police vehicles. The fifth and sixth articles, LexisNexis Accurint Mobile and Tactical Police Table respectively, discuss two new applications for use by police departments to improve their mobile computing and mission planning capabilities. The seventh article, Tips for Ad-Hoc Operations, also addresses ways to improve mission planning. The eighth article, Recruiting Generation Y, discusses the need for police departments to improve their recruitment of young officers to replace the large number of older officers expected to retire by 2020. Additional articles also present information on Police Fleet Expo to be held in Charlotte, NC in August 2012; and new accessories available for patrol vehicles.
