DISCUSSION OF THE LEGAL LIMITATIONS SURROUNDING THE RIGHT OF AN INDIVIDUAL TO PROTECT HIMSELF FROM OTHERS, AND OF A GROUP TO ACT IN CONCERT AGAINST THE THREATS OF OTHERS.
Abstract
THIS NON-TECHNICAL STUDY REVIEWS THE HISTORICAL PERSPECTIVES AND BACKGROUND OF THE LAW OF SELF-DEFENSE. IT FOCUSES ON THE TERMS THAT FORM THE BASIS OF THE LEGAL DEFINITION - PROVATION, NECESSITY, REASONABLE APPRENSION, AND RETREAT. A DISCUSSION OF SELF-DEFENSE AND THE VIOLENT SOCIETY ATTEMPTS TO PUT THE CONCEPT IN ITS MODERN PERSPECTIVE.
