THE HEAD OF THE POLIDE DE SURETE OF A SWISS CANTON GIVES HIS VIEWS ON WORK RELEASE PROGRAMS AND LEAVE FROM PRISONS IN GENERAL.
Abstract
SINCE HIS CANTON LIES BETWEEN THE FRENCH AND GERMAN SPEAKING SECTORS, THE AUTHOR NOTES THAT MANY PRISONERS AND ESCAPEES PASS THROUGH ON THEIR WAY TO FIND A HIDING PLACE. SEVERAL CASE HISTORIES ARE PRESENTED ABOUT ESCAPEES AND PRISONERS ON LEAVE WHO COMMIT CRIMES. SEVERAL SUGGESTIONS ARE MADE, SUCH AS DENYING LEAVE TO CERTAIN HIGH-RISK INMATES, IN ORDER TO REDUCE THE INCIDENCE OF CRIME COMMITTED BY PRISONERS ON LEAVE.
