Ruth Shonle Cavan, who received her Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of Chicago in 1926, has been a successful professional researcher and writer for more than 60 years. Yet many current criminologists appear to be unaware of some of her significant contributions.
Abstract
This paper presents an overview of Cavan's life and professional career with an emphasis on her writing from her student accomplishments through her authoring of textbooks and her current research and professional writing.
