Abstract
AN EXTENDED 'HENRY' CLASSIFICATION SYSTEM, IN WHICH EACH FINGER IN THE HENRY FINGERPRINT CLASS IS EXTENDED TO A UNIQUE IDENTIFICATION, MAKING THE ONE PRINT UNIQUELY IDENTIFIABLE FROM OTHERS, IS UTILIZED. THE RESEQUENCING OF EACH ELEMENT IN THE NEW FINGERPRINT EXPRESSION IS DISCUSSED ALONG WITH THE CONVERSION OF THE MASTER FINGERPRINT CARDS TO AN AMPER VIDEO FILE SYSTEM. THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE FINGERPRINT SEARCH PROCEDURE IS OUTLINED STEP-BY-STEP AND TWO METHODS OF INQUIRY ARE EXPLAINED IN DETAIL - ONE UTILIZING FINGERPRINT CLASS PLUS SEX, RACE, AND DATE OF BIRTH INFORMATION, AND ONE USING THE FINGERPRINT CLASS WITH NO EXTRA PARAMETERS. THE ENTIRE PROCESS - FROM PRINT IDENTIFICATION, CLASSING, AND SEARCHING USING THE COMPUTER - IS ALSO ILLUSTRATED IN NUMERICAL FORM. THE BENEFITS OF THIS SYSTEM INCLUDE FIFTEEN SECOND SEARCHES, THE REDUCTION OF THE NUMBER OF RESPONDENTS TO A MINIMUM, THE REDUCTION OF THE NUMBER OF DUPLICATIONS, AND AN INCREASE IN THE DEGREE OF ACCURACY (AN ERROR RATE OF LESS THAN ONE PER CENT).
