Researchers are provided with an annotated bibliography that deals with various aspects of terrorism.
Abstract
Press reports have not been noted, although several noteworthy news analyses are mentioned. Although the majority of entries are in English and are written by Americans, numerous citations from other languages are included to illustrate contributions from around the world. The 'General Treatments' section includes books and articles on definitions, theories, the history of terrorism, notes on terrorist tactics, and trends in forms of terrorism. The section on the tactics of terrorists lists materials under the categories of assassinations, bombings, hijackings, hostage incidents, and potential nuclear threats. The section on terrorist and guerrilla philosophies includes books and articles by well-known terrorists and commentaries on their views. Articles on the funding, training, and exchanges of personnel associated with terrorist groups are listed in the section on links of terrorist groups. The section on terrorism by geographic area includes listings which discuss terrorist activity, revolutionary movements, and civil uprisings, with separate sections on major countries. The section on responses lists publications which deal with the variety of responses adopted for terrorism in general and particular tactics of terrorist.
