Abstract
THE FOLLOW UP STUDIES THE STABILITY OF THE MEASURES OF POLICE PERFORMANCE UTILIZED IN THE ORIGINAL PROJECT, AND DETERMINES THE PREDICTIVE VALIDITY OF THE PSYCHOLOGICAL TEST BATTERIES. THE USE OF RACIAL GROUP DIFFERENCES FOR PREDICTING PERFORMANCE AND THE USE OF PATROLMAN SUBGROUPS FOR PREDICTING STABILITY OF PERFORMANCE WAS ALSO CONSIDERED. THE PERFORMANCE LEVELS OF EIGHT PATROLMEN SUBGROUPS IDENTIFIED IN THE 1966 STUDY ARE EXAMINED IN RELATION TO SUBSEQUENT JOB PERFORMANCE THROUGH 1969. THE APPENDIX CONTAINS NUMEROUS PAPERS AND JOURNAL ARTICLES ON POLICE SELECTION AND FIELD PERFORMANCE. THE DOCUMENT INCLUDES STATISTICAL ANALYSES OF RESEARCH FINDINGS. (AUTHOR ABSTRACT MODIFIED)
