THIS PAPER DESCRIBES A MANUAL FOOTPRINT CLASSIFICATION SYSTEM AND A COMPUTER-AIDED SEARCH AND RETRIEVAL SYSTEM.
Abstract
THE CLASSIFICATION SYSTEM UTILIZES THE RIDGE PATTERNS ADJACENT TO THE TOES ON THE SOLE OF THE RIGHT FOOT. THIS SYSTEM IS AN EXTENSION OF THE FBI FOOTPRINT CLASSIFICATION SYSTEM. THE MINUTE DETAILS OF THESE PRINTS ARE CODED FOR STORAGE IN A COMPUTERIZED FILE. THE COMPUTER CAN THEN SEARCH A SIMILARLY CODED UNKNOWN PRINT AGAINST THIS FILE AND IDENTIFY THE MOST LIKELY MATCHING PRINTS FROM THE FILE.
