OPERATIONS OF THE TRAINING COMMISSION IN FY 1972 AND 1973 ARE REPORTED, WITH EMPHASIS ON THE DEVELOPMENT OF ENTRANCE LEVEL AND IN-SERVICE TRAINING PROGRAMS.
Abstract
THE ENTRANCE LEVEL CURRICULA FOR CORRECTIONAL OFFICERS, PAROLE-PROBATION AGENTS, AND CLASSIFICATION COUNSELORS WERE DEVELOPED BY THE CORRECTIONAL TRAINING ACADEMY AS MINIMUM STANDARDS ENTRANCE LEVEL PROGRAMS FOR THOSE POSITIONS AND WERE INSTITUTED AT THE END OF FY 1973. THE PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT PHASES, WHICH COMPRISE THE MAJOR PORTIONS OF THIS REPORT, INVOLVED IN LARGE PART THE TRAINING OF TRAINERS PROGRAM, BY WHICH THE CURRICULA AND THE EVENTUAL TRAINING STAFF WERE DEVELOPED SIMULTANEOUSLY. THE REPORT DESCRIBES THE COURSES INCLUDED IN EACH OF THE MINIMUM STANDARDS PROGRAMS. PLANS FOR FY 1974 INCLUDE MODIFICATION OF THE ENTRANCE LEVEL PROGRAMS AND THE INSTITUTION OF IN-SERVICE TRAINING AS WELL. THE COMMISSION'S BUDGETS FOR FY 1973 AND 1974 ARE ALSO PRESENTED.
