This volume presents the text of the Maryland criminal code, correctional law, transportation laws, and other laws as of the end of the 2000 session of the Maryland General Assembly on April 10, 2000 and as effective on October 1, 2000; the text also includes the effective dates where applicable.
Abstract
Topics include crimes and punishments; venue, procedure, and sentence; places of reformation and punishment; the law enforcement officers’ bill of rights; criminal records; criminal justice information system; crime victims and witnesses; and the Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services. Additional topics include pretrial detention and services; parole and probation; State and local correctional systems and facilities; drivers’ licenses; vehicle inspections; abandoned vehicles; traffic law offenses; parties and procedure on a traffic citation, arrest, trial, and appeal; and traffic penalties. The volume also includes selected related laws on alcoholic beverages, fires and fire investigations, inspections, militia, juvenile court proceedings, family law related to abused children and missing children, insurance, labor and employment, natural resources, and State government. The book concludes with a one-page list of major headings accompanied by locator arrows to enable the reader to bend the edge of the book and follow the arrow to the mark denoting the beginning of a section.
