Abstract
THE PURPOSE OF THE PUBLICATION IS TO ASSIST THE CITIZEN IN BECOMING A VITAL PART OF THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM. IT BRIEFLY DISCUSSES THE ROLE AND HISTORY OF THE VOLUNTEER, THE HISTORY OF PAROLE AND PROBATION, AREAS OF VOLUNTEER ASSISTANCE AND VOLUNTEER TRAINING. A LIST OF DEFINITIONS USED IN THE SYSTEM IS PROVIDED ALONG WITH A RELATED BIBLIOGRAPHY.
