Abstract
This document is the actual transcript of the testimony presented by participants in the Methamphetamine Interagency Task Force Meeting held in Washington, DC, on November 30, 1999. The purpose of the meeting was for members of the Federal advisory committee to establish a foundation for the work of the task force. The task force was created to bring together the activities of the Federal Government agencies responsible for responding to the increasing problem of methamphetamine use around the country. Members of the task force included government officials as well as representatives from law enforcement, service providers, and the research community. The statute creating the task force indicates that the purpose of the task force is "to review the activities of the Federal Government in the areas of prevention and education and treatment and law enforcement, to conduct a review of those efforts, the efforts that are being undertaken in the communities around the country, to respond to the methamphetamine crisis and to make recommendations about what should be done."
