Abstract
PREPARED BY THE RESEARCH ORGANIZATION WHICH CONDUCTED THE STUDY, THIS REPORT PROVIDES AN OVERVIEW OF THE EXISTING ORGANIZATION AND OPERATION OF THE MIAMI POLICE DEPARTMENT AND SUGGESTS IMPROVEMENTS IN THE AREAS OF TECHNOLOGY AND MANPOWER. AMONG THE RECOMMENDATIONS DISCUSSED ARE STRUCTURAL REORGANIZATION, CONSTRUCTION NEW FACILITIES, ALTERATION OF PROCEDURES, EXPANSION OF COMMUNICATIONS AND INFORMATION SYSTEMS, IMPROVEMENT OF PERSONNEL PRACTICES, AND PURCHASE OF NEW EQUIPMENT. PREDICTIONS ARE MADE IN REGARD TO THE COSTS OF IMPLEMENTING THE SUGGESTED CHANGES.
