Abstract
AMONG THE BOARD'S ACCOMPLISHMENTS WERE THE EXPANSION OF TRANSPORTATION AND COMMUNICATIONS FACILITIES, A ONE-YEAR PILOT PROGRAM TESTING THE USE OF VOLUNTEERS IN PROBATION AND PAROLE WORK, THE CONTINUED USE OF TWO FEMALE PROBATION AND PAROLE OFFICERS, AND THE ADVANCEMENT OF PAROLE HEARING DATES TO WITHIN TWO MONTHS OF INMATES' PAROLE ELIGIBILITY DATES. PROJECTED GOALS INCLUDE ESTABLISHMENT OF AN ON-GOING STUDY AND EVALUATION FUNCTION, EXPANSION OF TRAINING AND VOLUNTEER PROGRAMS, INSTITUTION OF AN EMPLOYMENT PROGRAM FOR EX-OFFENDERS (JOBPROBE), AND IMPROVEMENT OF THE BOARD'S PERSONNEL AND SERVICES THROUGH A 30-MONTH PROGRAM OF SELF-STUDY AND EVALUATION, PROJECT DEVELOPMENT, AND STAFF AND VOLUNTEER TRAINING (PROJECT UPGRADE).
