Abstract
Tabulated 1981 summary data show crimes recorded by the State and municipal police and the Royal Marechaussee (RM) and in comparison with annual totals back to 1979. Nonindictable offenses and persons taken into custody are also shown, as is the strength of the State and municipal police and expenditures on the municipal police. Tables for the month of January 1982 list crimes known to the police and to the RM in terms of cases investigated and of nonindictable offenses per province. Data are given according to groups of municipalities and according to the nature of the offense. Also shown are State and municipal police and RM recorded nonindictable offenses for which prosecution was evaded by payment of fines and traffic offenses recorded by the State Transport Inspector. Tables representing the annual review of 1981 are detailed in similar categories. Additional data presents judicial statistics of the ordinary court for the first three quarters 1981 and of the military court for the year. Also given are statistics on bankruptcies for January and February 1982, on suicide for 1980, and on fires for January 1982. Tables and graphs constitute the bulk of the document.
