REPORT ON THE FIRST OF A THREE PHASE EFFORT BY THE LOS ANGELES POLICE DEPARTMENT OT DEVELOP A SYSTEM FOR AN INDIVIDUALIZED POLICE OFFICER TRANING STUDY PROGRAM.
Abstract
THE PROGRAM UTILIZES INDIVIDUAL STUDENT STUDY CARRELS, EQUIPPED WITH VIDEO CASSETTE PLAYERS, MONITORS, AND AUDIO CASSETTE PLAYERS. PROGRAM INSTRUCTION TEXTS, STUDY GUIDES, STUDENT TEXTS, HANDOUTS, AND STUDENT WORKBOOKS LEAD A STUDENT THROUGH THE CURRICULUM WITH THE IMPORTANT POINTS REINFORCED THROUGH VISUAL AND AUDIO PRESENTATIONS. THIS REPORT IS ORGANIZED INTO THREE GENERAL AREAS WHICH ENCAPSULATE THE ENTIRE PROJECT. PART ONE IS AN ASSESSMENT OF THE ORIGINALLY PROPOSED APPROACH AND DISCUSSION OF THE OBJECTIVES ACTUALLY MET; PART TWO SUMMARIZES GRANT ACTIVITY; AND PART THREE, THE APPENDIX, IS A COLLECTION OF REPORTS WHICH REPRESENT THE IMPORTANT COMPONENTS OF THE RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT OF THE TRAINING SYSTEM.
