Abstract
CASE HISTORIES OF NUMEROUS MASS MURDERERS ARE FURNISHED, RESULTING FROM A SEARCH OF LITERATURE ON THE SUBJECT. THE MANY THEORIES OF MURDER ARE REVIEWED, INCLUDING THE SOCIOLOGICAL, PSYCHOANALYTIC, PSYCHOLOGICAL, BIOLOGICAL, AND PHYSICAL THEORIES. EMOTIONAL DISTURBANCES OFTEN FOUND IN MURDERERS AND ASSASSINS ARE DISCUSSED. SEVERAL SPECIFIC CASES ARE CLOSELY EXAMINED WITH REGARD TO DIAGNOSIS AND TREATMENT. EXPLAINED IS A NEW SYSTEM OF PSYCHOTHERAPY-RATIONAL-EMOTIVE THERAPY-WHICH IS BEING EMPLOYED BY THE AUTHORS IN WORKING WITH SUCH DIFFICULT AND DISTURBED PERSONS AS PSYCHOPATHS AND PSYCHOTICS. A BIBLIOGRAPHY IS INCLUDED.
