This directory lists community shelters, safe homes, and service programs for victims of domestic assault throughout the United States.
Abstract
Programs are arranged alphabetically by city within each State or territory. The information listed for each program was taken from the survey forms submitted by each program to the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence. The listing for each program gives its name, address, office telephone number, hotline number, toll-free number, and specific services in 16 categories. The categories include shelter, safe homes, 24-hour hotline, acceptance of collect calls, counseling and/or advocacy services, support group for non-residents, children¦s counseling or programs, transportation, legal assistance, and counseling for batterers. Additional categories include wheelchair accessibility, capacity for speaking by telephone with people who are hearing impaired, foreign languages spoken, shelter capacity, maximum length of stay, and existence of an age limit for male children.
