This website provides access to resources of the National Public Safety Partnership (PSP), which was established in June 2017 under the direction of the Attorney General in response to the President's Executive Order on a Task Force on Crime Reduction and Public Safety, which emphasizes the role of the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) in combating violent crime by supporting and collaborating with state, tribal, and local law enforcement efforts in countering violent crime.
Abstract
PSP facilitates all DOJ agencies and offices in consulting with state and local jurisdictions to improve violence-reduction strategies through coordinated training, technical assistance, and an array of other resources. The PSP model is structured to provide cities with data-driven, evidence-based strategies tailored to the distinctive needs of each jurisdiction. The PSP core components are the "Operations Approach" and the "Diagnostic Approach." The Operations Approach consists of a 3-year commitment that involves assignment of a Strategic Site Liaison, annual customized training summits, the expedited delivery of assistance in seven core areas, and peer learning and exposure to a community of practice. The seven core areas of assistance are federal partnerships, crime analysis, technology, gun violence, criminal justice collaboration, community engagement, and investigations. The Diagnostic Approach is an 18-month commitment that consists of stakeholder relationship-building; governance structure and leadership analysis; capacity building; data collection and analysis; proposed training and technical assistance plan development, implementation, and evaluation; community engagement in violence reduction strategies; community engagement in violence-reduction strategies; and to learn more about the Diagnostic sites and visit the OJP Diagnostic Center website. Online access is provided to all PSP sites, pilot sites, 2017 Operations sites, and 2017 Diagnostic sites. Access is also provided to the Public Safety Clearinghouse, which contains information on strategic solutions to increase public safety.
