Abstract
THE CREATION OF THE CRIME COMMISSION AND ITS ASSIGNMENT AS STATE PLANNING AGENCY FOR CRIMINAL JUSTICE ALLOWED NEBRASKA TO BECOME ELIGIBLE FOR FEDERAL FUNDS IN 1968. SOME OF THE ACCOMPLISHMENTS AND TRENDS ARE A DE-EMPHASIS OF HARDWARE PROGRAMS IN FAVOR OF 'CRIME SPECIFIC PROGRAMS', CONSOLIDATION OF LAW ENFORCEMENT SERVICES, INCREASED EMPHASIS ON COMMUNITY-BASED PROGRAMS AND REGIONAL FACILITIES IN CORRECTIONS, THE DEVELOPMENT OF A PUBLIC INFORMATION PROGRAM, AND THE BEGINNING OF A CRIMINAL JUSTICE DATA SYSTEM.
