PROPOSAL FOR A PROGRAM TO MEET THE SPECIALIZED TRAINING NEEDS OF ACADEMIC AND VOCATIONAL TEACHERS IN CORRECTIONAL SETTINGS.
Abstract
THE PROGRAM IS PROPOSED IN RESPONSE TO INCREASING DEMANDS FOR EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS IN CORRECTIONAL INSTITUTIONS. THE CURRICULUM WOULD INCLUDE TRAINING IN THE HISTORY AND MILIEU OF CORRECTIONAL SETTINGS; KNOWLEDGE OF THE KINDS OF CLIENTS TO BE DEALT WITH; FAMILIARITY WITH OTHER PERSONNEL; KNOWLEDGE OF CRIME AND DELINQUENCY CAUSES; INDIVIDUALIZED INSTRUCTION; PRINCIPLES OF LEARNING, AND BEHAVIORAL AND MOTIVATIONAL TECHNIQUES. A METHOD FOR SELECTING TRAINEES IS ALSO PROPOSED.
