CRITICAL EXPOSE OF THE CHANGES INTRODUCED BY THE 1975 ITALIAN CORRECTIONAL REGULATIONS.
Abstract
THESE REGULATIONS ESTABLISHED ALTERNATIVE MEASURES TO DETENTION INCLUDING PROBATION, SEMI-LIBERTY, ANTICIPATED RELEASE, AND FURLOUGHS. THE AUTHOR EXAMINES THE ARTICLES OF THE LEGISLATIVE TEXT CONCERNING THESE MEASURES, BOTH IN COMPARISON WITH THE PRECEDING ITALIAN LEGISLATION AND WITH ANALOGOUS MEASURES ALREADY IN FORCE IN OTHER COUNTRIES. PARTICULAR EMPHASIS IS PLACED ON THE INCREASED POWERS ATTRIBUTED TO SUPERVISORY JUDGES, ON THE INSTITUTION OF SPECIAL SURVEILLANCE SECTIONS IN APPEAL COURTS, AND ON THE ROLE AND FUNCTION OF VOLUNTARY SERVICE. THE LATTER IS CONSIDERED AN ESSENTIAL PREREQUISITE FOR THE PARTICIPATION OF THE PUBLIC IN THE SOCIAL REHABILITATION OF OFFENDERS. --IN ITALIAN
