SUMMARY OF THE DEPARTMENT'S VARIOUS ACTIVITIES, WITH A MONTH-BY-MONTH BREAKDOWN OF SIGNIFICANT EVENTS IN 1972.
Abstract
THE DEPARTMENT ANNOUNCES ITS MOST SIGNIFICANT SINGLE ACHIEVEMENT IN 1972 TO HAVE BEEN A CONTINUAL 12 MONTH OVERALL DECREASE IN THE SEVEN MAJOR CRIME CATEGORIES. THE 15 PER CENT CRIME REDUCTION IN 1972 OVER 1971 IS ATTRIBUTED TO INNOVATIVE PATROL SYSTEMS, GREATER PUBLIC PARTICIPATION IN CRIME PREVENTION, AND INCREASED MASS MEDIA ATTENTION TO LAW ENFORCEMENT MATTERS.
