A DOCUMENTARY FILM WHICH EXPLORES THE ATTITUDES OF MALE AND FEMALE POLICE OFFICERS, DISCUSSES THE TRAINING OF FEMALE POLICE OFFICERS, AND SHOWS POLICEWOMEN TAKING PART IN PATROL ACTIVITIES.
Abstract
BY CONTRASTING THE NEGATIVE COMMENTS OF MALE POLICE OFFICERS WITH THE OPTIMISTIC OBSERVATIONS OF SEVERAL POLICEWOMEN, THIS FILM POINTS OUT ONE OF THE MAJOR OBSTACLES FACED BY THE FEMALE OFFICER: SEX DISCRIMINATION. SEVERAL TRAINING SEQUENCES ARE SHOWN IN WHICH FEMALES PARTICIPATE IN THE SAME TRAINING CLASSES AND PERFORM THE SAME TRAINING EXERCISES AS THE MALE RECRUITS. THE ISSUE OF FEMALE OFFICERS PARTICIPATING IN POLICE PATROLS IS ANALYZED THROUGH FILMS OF AN OPEN DISCUSSION IN WHICH MALE AND FEMALE OFFICERS VOICE THEIR OPINIONS ON POLICEWOMEN ON PATROL, AND THROUGH SCENES OF POLICEWOMEN PARTICIPATING IN PATROL ACTIVITIES.
