THIS PAPER CONSIDERS POSSIBLE EXPLANATIONS OF THE FACT THAT SURVEYS HAVE FOUND LOWER RATES OF VICTIMIZATION THAN WOULD BE EXPECTED BASED ON A PROBABILITY MODEL.

INVESTIGATED IS THE POSSIBLITY OF SOME CHANGE IN THE INDIVIDUAL OR IN THE COLLECTIVE GROUP WHICH MAKES IT LESS VULNERABLE TO (OR IMMUNIZES IT FROM) CRIMINAL VICTIMIZATION.
